KUALA LUMPUR: Hollywood star Will Smith revealed that he had read the entire Quran during Ramadan last year.
The 56-year-old award-winning actor disclosed this during a Big Time podcast interview session with Egyptian journalist, Amr Adeeb.
The King Richard, Aladdin and Men In Black star said that he had also read other holy books including the Torah and the Bible.
However, among all of them, Smith was more attracted to the Quran, which is described as being very clear in its meaning.
"I loved the simplicity. The Quran is so crystal clear. It's hard to walk away with a misunderstanding," he said.
Smith added that he was moved to read the scriptures after going through various trials and difficulties in life for the past two years and chose to return to spirituality.
"You know the last two years of my life have been a difficult time and my attention turned inward," he said.
During the interview session, Smith also emphasised that he was interested in the story of the Prophet Musa (Moses) contained in the Quran.
"I was shocked at how much Moses was mentioned, Musa, in the Quran. I was also surprised how it's like one story, from the Torah through the Bible into the Quran. For the first time, I saw the line," he said.
The interview was conducted in December 2023 but has recently been widely circulated online.
