#Showbiz: 'The Chosen One' stars to meet fans at Berjaya Times Square on May 18

KUALA LUMPUR: The highly-anticipated action-comedy The Chosen One is set to make a grand entrance on Malaysian screens, and is bringing its star-studded cast to Berjaya Times Square on May 18.

Directed by Lim Suat Yen, it boasts a cast of esteemed actors from Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia, including Zong Zijie (Singapore), Yao Kuo (Taiwan), Angel Lim (Malaysia), and Gurmit Singh (Singapore).

All of them will be meeting and greeting fans at the film's 8.30pm premiere on that day.

Backed by Singaporean media company NoonTalk Media and co-produced by Malaysian film production company Current Pictures and Singapore's Oak3 Films, with the support of the National Film Development Corporation (Finas), The Chosen One casts a spotlight on Malaysia's cultural tapestry.

Shot against the breathtaking backdrop of Penang, the movie promises to enchant audiences with its rich local flavours and an ensemble cast that transcends borders.

Gurmit, renowned for his iconic character Phua Chu Kang takes on the role of Master Bai Yun, adding his signature flair to this enthralling narrative.

The Chosen One is a tale teeming with mystery and intrigue. Our hero Ah Jie (Zong) grapples with the weight of his power, striving to evade his usage of it at every turn.

However, his refusal to aid a friend piques the curiosity of intrepid paranormal vlogger Sora (Angel) and this sets a chain of events in motion.

Ah Jie's reluctance hides a gripping tale involving the mysterious Ah Jiao (Kuo Shuyao) whose existence holds the key to our hero's tumultuous past.

The premiere is at mmCineplexes PLUS, Berjaya Times Square, and fans can catch a glimpse of the cast when they make an appearance at Ground Central, Berjaya Times Square, at 7pm.

The Chosen One arrives in cinemas across Malaysia and Singapore on May 30.
