A road accident while riding on a motorcycle when he was 18 left actor and singer Mark Adam mentally scarred and not wanting to drive at all.
The 45-year-old Philippines-born artiste said in a recent news report that he does not even have a driving licence and depends on his Malaysian wife, Norazah Redzuan, to ferry him everywhere.
"Back then, I was riding my father's motorbike with my friend. We got into an accident and my friend broke his arm and his leg.
"Ever since then, whenever I tried to drive a car, that traumatising incident would haunt my thoughts and keep me from getting behind the wheel."
Mark added that he was forced to turn down roles that required him to drive since he would not be able to do it well.
"Some have advised me to seek therapy to overcome this trauma and, God-willing, I will give it a try," he said.
Mark explained that he was comfortable being accompanied by his wife to his various film locations.
"She is a good driver and has never been involved in any accidents beyond little scrapes.
"I also want to be with my wife because life is short. We will regret it if we don't spend more time with our family.
"When I work until the wee hours of the morning, I would always think about my wife at home.
"So, it's better for my wife to accompany me on location," he said.
