KUALA LUMPUR: Pop veteran Ramlah Ram, 59, has described the late entertainment journalist and lyricist Kamal Huzaini Kamaludin or Huzz as one of her dearest friends in entertainment journalism, who was like a disciple to Juwie.
Huzz, 59, who died of cancer last Saturday, was described by Ramlah as the "second Juwie" in her life, as both Juwie (Abdul Jalil Salleh) who died in April 2015 and Huzz were "kind, gentle souls" who helped her a lot as a singer.
"Huzz and Juwie were very close, like mentor and protege. I was best friends with both of them and Huzz even wrote one of my hits titled Keangkuhanmu," said Ramlah in an interview with Harian Metro yesterday.
Ramlah added that Huzz, like Juwie, was an outstanding and trailblazing entertainment journalist, who befriended all artistes and helped promote their careers with great news articles and "brotherly advice".
"I did get to visit him when he was ill. We spent some great moments chatting and reminiscing our early years. I will miss him dearly," said Ramlah.
Ramlah revealed that she persuaded Huzz to write Keangkuhanmu, even though he initially said 'no'.
"That song really took me places. I won the Golden Vocal award in a singing competition in Vietnam," she said.
Huzz was buried at the Permatang Langsat Islamic Cemetery in Kepala Batas, Penang on Saturday.
