KUALA LUMPUR: Living in the city can be costly, especially for senior actor Ebby Yus, 59, who requires around RM3,000 monthly to cover essential expenses and medical needs.
Ebby, whose real name is Muhammad Yunus Abdul Rashid, has been battling kidney failure and has been out of work for over four months due to the lack of offers.
"Currently, I am unable to work and need to rest due to my kidney condition. I have to perform dialysis at home twice daily.
"Alhamdulillah, my health is showing some improvement, but the financial strain remains as I have to cover rent, bills, and medical expenses," he told Harian Metro.
In addition to managing dialysis at home, Ebby needs to visit the hospital bi-weekly for specialist check-ups related to his kidney condition.
He expressed his gratitude for recent financial support from the Nurjiwa Foundation, established by singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and her husband, Datuk Seri Khalid Jiwa.
"I am truly moved by the Nurjiwa Foundation's financial assistance, which has been a great help during these challenging times.
"I am also grateful for the support from fellow artistes who have reached out. While I appreciate the help, what I really hope for is a suitable job offer," he said.
Ebby also receives monthly financial aid from Baitulmal, and he recently submitted an application to the Department of Social Welfare (JKM), although he has yet to receive a response.
In October, Ebby spent 17 days at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for treatment.
He had previously been admitted to HKL's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for heart complications, where doctors informed him his heart function was at only 27 per cent due to severe weakness.
