SINGER Datuk Nora Ariffin can breathe a sigh of relief now that she is free of chronic disesase.
Sharing her health progress, Nora, whose real name is Wan Norafizah Wan Ariffin, 51, said her doctors had advised her to take care of her diet and avoid stress.
"After being discharged from the hospital, where I spent 10 days, I did follow-up treatment. I was monitored by three specialist doctors and underwent a comprehensive examination that included a magnetic resonance imaging scan and a computed tomography scan.
"Alhamdulillah, everything is all right. I am grateful to God. I am 51 years old, so I must be careful with what I eat.
"Sometimes, when I see ailing artistes and friends, I get worried. All kinds of things can happen to anyone at any time.
"The doctors told me not to stress myself too much. My heart and kidneys, and blood pressure, are all okay for now.
"If you are stressed, even a healthy body will become sick. The doctors also told me to take care of my food intake and drink a lot of water every day," she told 'Berita Harian'.
Earlier, it was reported that the singer, who is popular for the songs 'Di Persimpangan Dilema' and 'Hanya Satu', was admitted to a medical centre in Kajang, Selangor, on July 22 and warded for 10 days due to extreme fatigue.
On a lighter note, Nora shared a funny story where her children thought that their mother had become pregnant again.
"When I was sick during the day, the kids thought I was pregnant because I vomited a few times in the toilet. But I quickly disproved it.
"At this age, and also because my children have all grown up, I don't think about becoming a mum again. I am not into having more children, I am waiting to have grandchildren instead."
Nora expressed her gratitude to her friends and fans who prayed for her wellbeing.
"When I was admitted to the hospital, I didn't tell anyone. Only those close to me knew. Many of my showbiz friends were unaware because I kept it a secret.
"I want to apologise to all my friends and fans who may have felt slighted because I did not tell them about my illness. To be honest, I did not want anyone to get worried about me.
"I would also like to thank everyone who prayed for me. In fact, some even recited prayers for my family's safety so that I would bounce back quickly.
"I appreciate all their kind thoughts and gesture."
In November last year, Nora was admitted to the intensive care unit of a private medical centre in Kajang due to shortness of breath.
Nora's nephew and protege, singer-actor Nabil Zamanhuri, who finished second in TV3's reality talent show 'Mentor Season 1' two decades ago, died of a heart attack at the age of 36 on May 25.
Nora's husband, composer Johan Nawawi, 51, died of a heart attack on March 24, 2017.
