KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial actor Mohd Syamsul Mohd Yusof has filed for divorce from his wife, Ira Kazar, his lawyer confirms.
"Yes, Syamsul Yusof has filed for divorce through me," lawyer Azmi Mohd Rais told Harian Metro.
He said he filed the divorce as the lawyer representing Syamsul, who is also a film director.
"He asked me to file it in court today. He gave me permission to confirm this to Harian Metro."
Earlier, Harian Metro quoted a source as saying that Syamsul, 40, had filed for divorce from his wife, whose full name is Faghirah Fatini Kazaruddin.
Syamsul and Ira married on Jan 6 last year in southern Thailand.
Syamsul confirmed this in an Instagram video in January last year.
Syamsul was married to actress Puteri Sarah when he married Ira.
Puteri Sarah filed for divorce from him and it was finalised on June 14 last year.
