KUALA LUMPUR: The Lower Syariah Court of Kuala Selangor today confirmed the existence of a taklik divorce decree pronounced by filmmaker Syamsul Yusof against his wife, Ira Kazar, when they were still married.
According to Berita Harian, the taklik divorce pronouncement is carried out by the husband with taklik conditions and if the wife violates certain conditions, then it can lead to divorce.
Syarie judge Mohd Faizal Habib confirmed the matter after Ira, whose real name is Faghirah Fatini Kazaruddin, as the plaintiff filed for divorce on Aug 21.
The syarie lawyer representing Ira, Mohammad Fadhil Abdul Razak, said the court confirmed the occurrence of the taklik pronunciation, thereby resulting in a talak satu divorce.
"The court has decided that the divorce took place outside the court between Syamsul and Ira. That's all that happened today.
"The details have been taken in account and the decision has been made today. Thank you to the court.
"So, today, the talak one divorce was pronounced at about 10.30 this morning and the case at the Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court wiil not be continued," he said in the news report today.
Meanwhile, the syarie lawyer representing Syamsul, Azmi Mohd Rais, said that Ira had violated the taklik five times since Aug 14.
"Alhamdulillah, the divorce case and pronouncement of the taklik have been completed today where the court found that Ira had violated the taklik.
"There was a violation of the taklik by Ira and the court had found that Ira did this five times. The first time was on Aug 14.
"It happened willingly without coercion from any party. The edah period also started on the same date, Aug 14," he said.
On Aug 16, Syamsul, 40, dropped a bombshell when he filed for divorce against his wife, Ira, at the Gombak Timur Lower Syariah Court in Selangor.
The two had tied the knot on Jan 6 last year in Southern Thailand.
Following that, actress Puteri Sarah Liyana who was Syamsul's first wife at the time, had decided to file for divorce.
They were officially separated on June 14 last year.
