#SHOWBIZ: I'm always rejected by TV stations, says Raja Azrey

KUALA LUMPUR: Oftentimes rejected by TV stations when his name was suggested for drama series, actor and director Raja Azrey has stopped going for casting auditions for the past seven years.

In a Harian Metro report yesterday, the 46-year-old said it was a pointless effort when he could already anticipate the result.

"I'm still interested in acting, but what can I do when there are fewer acting jobs offered?

"When I asked production houses, they'd tell me that I'm always dropped during the selection process by the stations.

He said that he did not know the real reason why he had never been chosen, and instead more offers are given to TikTokers these days.

The artiste also denied that he had been too demanding in terms of fees or being selective with acting offers.

"As a senior player with more than three decades of experience, I only ask for what is worthy of me.

"Because of that, I decided to come up with my own acting classes and workshops by setting up Akademi Raja Azrey in 2019.

Raja Azrey is known for drama series such as Kisah Benar, Akademi Polis, Kampung Jaguh, Gerak Khas Season 19, and Hari Itu Dalam Sejarah.

He has also acted in films that include Blok 404, Di Ambang Misteri, Hilang, and Jengka.
