#SHOWBIZ: Indian superstar Rajinikanth hospitalised in Chennai

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Indian actor Rajinikanth has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai, India due to sudden illness.

According to Times of India, the 74-year-old superstar is said to have suffered sudden abdominal pain last night and had underwent an elective surgery today.

It was reported that due to a heart related problem, permission had to been sought from a cardiologist and he had a major medical examination.

According to the latest reports, Rajinikanth was said to have visited the hospital for a basic digestive discomfort and is absolutely fine now as his health is in stable condition.

He has been kept for observation and additional health checkup and is believed to be able to be discharged later today.

Rajinikanth's new film 'Vettaiyan', directed by TJ Gnanavel, will be screened in cinemas soon.

The movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan and Abhirami.

It will be Amitabh Bachchan's first Tamil film.
