KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity couple Farid Kamil, 43, and Diana Danielle, 33, attended the Federal Territories Syariah Lower Court in Jalan Duta, here, this morning for the first mention of their rujuk (reconciliation) and divorce application.
Diana arrived at 9.19am, dressed in a black robe and accompanied by her syarie lawyer, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kadir.
She expressed hope for a smooth process. Akberdin explained that today's proceedings would focus on the reconciliation and decision regarding the divorce.
Farid arrived shortly afterward, accompanied by his syarie lawyer, Fakhrul Azman Abu Hassan.
Speaking briefly, he echoed Diana's sentiments. "I hope everything goes well today. God willing," he told Berita Harian.
Diana filed for divorce under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law Act (Federal Territories) 1984, citing irreconcilable differences, shiqaq (prolonged arguments), and an inability to continue as husband and wife. The divorce application follows Diana's public announcement on Oct 28, where she announced her intent to end the marriage.
This is not the couple's first brush with marital discord.
On March 10 last year, Diana filed for divorce at the Petaling Syariah Lower Court, citing similar reasons. They officially divorced on Aug 10 via Google Meet but reconciled a month later.
Farid, however, has made it clear he wishes to preserve the family, expressing his enduring love for Diana and their two children, Muhammad, 11, and Nur Aurora, 9.
The couple married on Nov 3, 2012, and had appeared to be one of Malaysia's most celebrated celebrity families before their relationship began facing challenges.
