KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Syariah Lower Court has confirmed that celebrity couple Farid Kamil and Diana Danielle remain legally married after approving their rujuk (reconciliation) application today.
Syarie Judge Abdul Fattah Datuk Kamarudin verified the couple's status during proceedings earlier this morning.
Diana's syarie lawyer, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kadir, stated that the court was satisfied with the reconciliation process as there were no objections from Farid's side.
"The rujuk took place on Aug 31 last year, and the court has officially acknowledged that both parties have resumed their status as husband and wife from that date," Akberdin told Berita Harian after the proceedings.
The court has directed both parties to obtain a rujuk certificate from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI).
This document must be presented at the next court session on Dec 2, where the divorce application filed by Diana will be heard.
According to Akberdin, the rujuk process has been fully completed, and there are no unresolved matters related to it.
"The court has issued an official rujuk order. Once the certificate is obtained from JAWI, it will be submitted to proceed with the divorce application under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law Act (Federal Territories) 1984.
"The couple's status as husband and wife has been reaffirmed by the court, and the divorce hearing will proceed as planned," he said.
Meanwhile, Farid's syarie lawyer, Fakhrul Azman Abu Hassan, confirmed that his client had no objections to the reconciliation request.
"The court has officially acknowledged the rujuk this morning. However, for the divorce application to proceed, all related documents, including the rujuk and divorce acknowledgment letters, must be completed and submitted to the court," Fakhrul said.
Diana had previously appeared in court on Nov 4 to register the rujuk and simultaneously file for divorce.
