KUALA LUMPUR: Former actress and model Zahnita Wilson revealed that she was required to undergo a urine test before being allowed to use a police escort to pick up two of her children from her husband's home on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old, whose full name is Zahnita Dorothy Hussein Wilson, shared that the screening returned negative results, according to a Sinar Harian report today.
"I have a court order allowing me to request a police escort, but the process was not smooth.
"They asked me to take a urine test. Alhamdulillah, the result was negative.
"Yesterday, I gained custody of my two daughters, but my eldest is still with her father as she is sitting for her SPM examination," she said when met at a supermarket in Kuantan on Thursday.
Zahnita expressed relief after obtaining temporary custody of her children from her husband, Abd Zackery Ghouse Abd Gafoor.
The court decision ended a challenging two-week separation from her three children: Zahrafeena, 18, Zasharayna, 10, and Zahlia, 7.
"The past two weeks were tough, especially having to return the children after short visits. Previously, I was apart from them for nearly four months," she said.
Zahnita noted that the legal battle for custody has tested her patience. "The process is time-consuming, but I'm relieved to now have temporary custody," she added.
The court has granted Abd Zackery the right to visit the children for two hours on weekends.
A hearing for the final custody decision is set for Jan 3 next year.
Zahnita's marriage has drawn public attention after she shared an Instagram post detailing her struggles, including a photo of a bruised eye, sparking speculation of domestic violence.
On Dec 5, Abd Zackery was charged with causing injury to Zahnita and drug abuse.
Earlier, the Kuantan Magistrate's Court approved Zahnita's request for an Interim Protection Order (IPO) under the Domestic Violence Act 1994.
Zahnita and Abd Zackery, married since 2005, have four children: Zahrafeena, Zasharayna, Zahlia, and Zayden.
Zahnita had previously filed for divorce in 2013 but withdrew the application in 2015.
