THE Malaysian Medical Association Foundation (MMAF) is organising a charity concert on July 21 at the Manipal University College Malaysia campus in Malacca to aid Special Olympics Malaysia.
Themed "Strings for Hope – An Evening with Melaka Youth String Orchestra", the concert will feature a mix of musical pieces performed by members of the orchestra and a special appearance by Singapore's Sound Collective group.
As many as 500 people are expected to attend the special event. All proceeds from the concert will go towards intellectually disabled children and adults of Special Olympics Malaysia. All ticket purchases and donations are tax exempted.
The Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organisation for children and adults with intellectual disabilities providing year-round training and activities.
Special Olympics competitions are held daily all around the world and like the International Paralympic Committee, the Special Olympics organisation is recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
