IT consultant slashed, robbed RM1k in Kota Damansara ATM robbery

KUALA LUMPUR: A quick trip to the bank cost an IT consultant 14 stitches on his head and hand in a robbery in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, yesterday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abu Kassim said the man was checking his account’s balance just after he had deposited RM1,000 into the machine in the 6.30pm incident.

"A suspect armed with knife had barged into the premises and forced the victim to withdraw cash and to hand over the money.

"The victim adhered. The suspect then tried to snatch the ATM card and a struggle ensued, striking the victim on his head and hands," he said, adding that another suspect was waiting on a motorcycle outside the premises.

Azmi said the victim lost RM1,000 and an iPhone in the incident.
