Mother, son killed in Bandar Enstek car crash

SEPANG: A mother and her son died in a tragic car accident involving three vehicles along Jalan Salak, near Bandar Enstek, here this morning.

In the 7.15am incident, 19-year-old Al-Akmal Hafiy Darwisy Kadapi, who was driving with passenger Norhalina Ahmad, 47, had attempted to avoid a Perodua Viva which suddenly veered into their side of the single-lane road, before crashing into a tanker lorry.

Both victims were from Taman Seri Bayu, Bagan Lalang, in Sungai Pelek.

The bodies of the two, who died on the spot, were trapped in the wreckage of the Toyota Avanza multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

Recounting the lead up to the accident, the 41-year-old lorry driver claimed the Viva, which was travelling in front of him, had suddenly swerved in to the opposite lane, before the MPV rammed into the lorry’s frontal end.

The accident also caused traffic congestion which lasted for at least an hour.

Both the lorry and the Viva were travelling towards central Sepang area from the Salak township area when the incident happened.

However, the lorry driver escaped the incident unscathed while 34-year-old female driver of the Viva sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, acting Sepang District Police Chief Superintendent Abdul Aziz Ali, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

“The road condition on the ascending lanes was dry and weather condition was generally good during the time of the incident, which took place at the double-lined road,” Aziz said.

He said the case was being investigated under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Aziz added the remains of the two victims were sent to Serdang Hospital for post mortem.
