KUALA LUMPUR: A man is believed to have murdered his elderly mother and stuffed her body in a freezer about three years ago after she refused to embrace his religious beliefs.
The murder only came to light today after the man, in his 50s, finally confessed what he had done to the police.
A team of police then rushed to the suspect's house in Taman OUG, where they found the body of the victim in a freezer.
It was understood, that the suspect had allegedly beaten the victim, in her 80s, to death at his double-storey terrace house in March 2021.
She was then wrapped in a towel and plastic sheets before her body was stuffed in a freezer at the house.
Sources said the murder took place following the suspect's dissatisfaction with the victim, who refused to embrace his religious beliefs.
It was learned that the suspect finally came clean to the police because he was running low on savings and suffered from a chronic illness.
Police arrested the suspect after he lodged the report at around 9am today and brought him to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for medical checks.
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the case adding that investigations were ongoing.
Those with information on the case should contact the City police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or go to the nearest police station.
