SANDAKAN: A seafood restaurant owner and a customer were kidnapped by gunmen who stormed Ocean King Restaurant, here.
In the 8pm incident, the gunmen arrived in boat and grabbed owner Thien Nyuk Fun, 48, and Sarawakian man whose identity was still unknown.
It was learnt that witnesses saw four gunmen went up to the restaurant while another two waited in the boat. Suspects clad in military uniform.
Restaurant manager Chung Yun Thiam, 60, who is also Thien's brother-in-law said customers and workers fled the dining area when the gunmen arrived.
"My sister-in-law was at the counter when the suspects took her and another customer," he said when met at the scene, adding they fled towards the open sea.
Meanwhile, Sabah police commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman, when contacted said police were still investigating the kidnapping.
