More minor tremors recorded in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Two more earthquakes occurred near Ranau at 2.19pm and 1.32pm, with a magnitude of 3.4 and 3.7 richter respectively.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was at the district visiting the disaster site during these two incidents.

Tremors were felt in Ranau during the quakes, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

Three more earthquakes recorded near Ranau and Papar areas at 10:36am (3.3 richter), 10:52am (3.2) and 11:35am (3.1 richter)

Seven earthquakes have occurred back to back since 6.58am at west coast area of Sabah.

The latest was a 2.5 richter of magnitude at 9.46am, 26km north of Tambunan where tremors were felt in Ranau.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department also recorded three earthquakes near Ranau at 8.49am, 9.16am and 9.21am with magnitude of 2.9, 2.6 and 2.2 richter respectively.

Three earthquakes earlier were experienced near Kota Belud at 6.58 am (3.2), 7.05am (2.9) and 7.35am (3.0).
