SapuraKencana wins US$382m worth of jobs

KUALA LUMPUR: SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd has bagged oil and gas jobs worth a combined value of US$382 million (RM1.58 billion).

In its filing to the stock exchange yesterday, SapuraKencana said the contracts won were by SapuraKencana GE Oil & Gas Services Sdn Bhd, which is a joint venture between SapuraKencana Services Shd Bhd and GE Power Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

Murphy Sarawak Oil Co Ltd awarded SapuraKencana GE Oil & Gas Services Sdn Bhd a long-term maintenance contract.

“This comprises the provision of maintenance services for GE-
supplied gas turbines and centrifugal compressors. The contract is for a period of approximately 10 years,” the oil and gas heavyweight said.

Petronas Floating LNG1 (L) Ltd had also awarded SapuraKencana GE Oil & Gas Services a contract to maintain GE-supplied aeroderivative gas turbines, centrifugal compressors and electric generators and electric motors.

“The contract is for a period of 10 years with an option to extend for an additional period of five years,” it said.

As for its drilling services, BP Trinidad & Tobago LLC had granted a contract extension to SK Petro’s wholly-owned subsidiary SapuraKencana Drilling Jaya Ltd to provide semi-submersible tender assist drilling rig “SKD Jaya”.

BP has extended the use of the SKD Jaya for another well in its development drilling campaign offshore Trinidad and Tobago. It is set to remain on contract until April this year.

The contracts are likely to contribute towards SapuraKencana’s earnings in future.

The company said risk factors affecting the contracts include execution risks such as availability of skilled manpower and materials, changes in pricing, weather conditions, and/or political, economic and regulatory conditions.
