KUALA NERUS: The body of a 14-year-old boy who drowned in a catchment pond near Kampung Padang Nenas, here, was found by a villager today.
State Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Rozizah Abnihajar said the victim was identified as Muhammad Ikhwan Ismail, a Form Two student from Taman Akasia Gong Badak, here.
It was learnt the Ikhwan had gone for a swim there when the incident occurred at around 6pm.
Rozizah said the Kuala Nerus station received a distress call from the public at 6.11pm.
"Following that, seven firemen from the station were deployed to the scene but upon arrival, the boy's body was spotted by a 46-year-old villager," she said.
She said the victim’s body was sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for post mortem.
