KUALA LUMPUR: Boboiboy: The Movie is having a blast at the box office. Raking in RM8 million in gross collections to date, it has attracted over 700,000 audiences since its March 3 cinema release.
Screened at 115 cinemas nationwide, this Animonsta Studio’s animation film also took the No. 1 spot over the weekend, beating the newly-released US animated film Kungfu Panda 3.
The colourful action-comedy based on the TV series of the same name sees pre-teen superhero Boboiboy and his friends Gopal, Yaya, Ying and Fang visit a mysterious island to save their robot friend Ochobot from vicious alien invaders.
Owing to its popularity, Boboiboy: The Movie will be screened at 10 additional cinemas.
The animated science fiction adventure, distributed by Primeworks Studios, will be heading to Indonesia for an April 13 release.
