KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the public are invited to a blood donation campaign on April 20, from 9.30am to 4.30pm at the Malaysia University of Science & Technology (MUST) in Petaling Jaya.
The event, organised by the MUST Transportation & Logistics club and MUST Student Council, is in partnership with the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
Community Service director of MUST Student Council Bazlaa Fadhullah said the blood drive aims to help UMMC maintain an adequate supply of blood at the medical centre.
“Blood supplies need to be constantly replenished since whole blood and blood components have a limited shelf-life.
“Thus the blood drive strives to help the hospital maintain adequate blood stocks in the face of rising demand for it.
“We also want to educate, motivate and recruit new blood donors and also mobilize youth as a new generation of voluntary blood donors,” she said.
The event also provides free eye tests, body mass index (BMI) checkups, and exhibitions on organ donation as well as the dangers of smoking and vaping.
