77-year old former police sergeant among first in line to vote

KUCHING: Former police sergeant Jamel Mustapha was so enthusiastic to vote that he was standing in line at the SK Merpati Jelang polling station at 6.30am in the morning.

The 77-year-old grandfather said he came to the school, which is one of the polling stations in the Satok constituency.

Not only did he come early to vote, Jamel also brought along two small jars of candies which he distributed to other voters here as a form of sedekah (charity).

"Although my house is not far from the polling station, I will always come early to cast votes," said Jamel, who has nine children and 25 grandchildren.
