KUALA LUMPUR: An Iranian businessman today claimed trial at the Sessions Court to two charges of planting eight ganja plants, and overstaying in Malaysia.
Sharif Kazem Ahmad, 33, is accused of having planted the ganja plants at Block A-5-6 Villa Taman Tasik Condominium, Jalan Sri Permasuri in Cheras at 6.40pm on April 27 and was charged under Section 6B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries life imprisonment and a minimum of six strokes of the rotan, upon conviction.
He is also alleged to have committed the second offence of overstaying in Malaysia, at his condominium unit on April 27, at 6,40pm.
Judge Hasbi Hasan fixed Jun 8 for mention and document submission.
Sharif was represented by Datuk N. Sivananthan while Nurhafiza Rajuni, prosecuted.
