(Football) K. Devan resigns as Kelantan coach

K. DEVAN tendered his resignation yesterday in Kota Baru as Kelantan coach, citing personal reasons.

The Kelantan FA (Kafa) has accepted Devan’s resignation letter and will announce his replacement soon.

“I have tendered by resignation for personal reasons. I thank Kafa and other concerned parties for giving me the support for the last six months,” said Devan, who had coaching stints with Selangor, Felda United and Negri Sembilan.

The 55-year-old was reportedly having a tough time in Kelantan due to interference from various quarters. Kelantan are currently sixth in the Super League with 12 points.

Devan is the fifth coach in the Super League to resign or rested by teams this season.

Terengganu coach Ahmad Yusoff was the first to be rested in February, followed by Penang's Jacksen Tiago last month and Sarawak’s K. Rajagobal recently. Ahmad Shaharuddin Rosdi resigned as chief coach of Pahang in March.
