KUALA PILAH: A teenager was forced to endure three-hours of pain after suffering cramps while descending Gunung Angsi, here, this morning.
It was learnt that the victim, Muhd Amirul Shoed, 23, began climbing the mountain with 50 hikers from the Belia Simpang Pertang club at 7.30am.
After enjoying the scenery at the top, the group started their descent the mountain about 11.30am. Amirul suffered cramps in his left leg five minutes after.
At first, Amirul’s friends took turn to carry him. They later decided to place an emergency call after running out of strength.
Meanwhile, Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Department operation chief Ariffin Isa said they were alerted at 2.17pm before one engine with five firefighters were deployed.
“We managed to locate the victim at 2.42pm. We then carried down the victim and arrived at the foot of the mountain after 30 minutes,” he said when met at the scene.
Ariffin said the victim was sent to the Terachi health clinic for treatment.
Other agencies involved in the rescue operation were the Civil Defence Department and forest rangers.
