KUALA LUMPUR: A college student plunged to his death from the 19th floor of the Palm Spring Condominium in Kota Damansara today.
The victim was identified as Ahmed Abdalla Mohamed Ali, 29, from Sudan.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said the incident happened about 4.20pm.
Abdalla's friend, identified only as Momin, said the victim had visited his apartment at 4pm.
Abdalla had told Momin that he hadn't eaten, and Momin agreed to cook. Abdalla, meanwhile, decided to hang out at the balcony.
Momin said that while he was cooking in the kitchen, he heard Abdalla talking to himself.
This was followed by a long period of silence, which prompted Momin to check on his friend. He found the balcony empty.
Abdalla was later found on the ground floor, dead.
According to the police, his friends had claimed that Abdalla had displayed signs of mental illness previously. His behaviour, they claimed, had been erratic and he had taken to talking to himself a lot.
Police checks showed no foul was play involved.
Abdalla's body was brought to the Sungai Buloh hospital for a post mortem examination. Police have classified the case as sudden death.
