SEREMBAN: A family of seven had a narrow escape when their car suddenly caught fire at Jalan Sikamat, here, last night.
The family, which included five children aged between six and 15, were on their way home in Sikamat from Seremban in the 8.05pm incident.
The fire began when the driver started the engine after the car had suddenly stopped while he was driving.
Seremban fire and rescue station operation chief N Sundram said an engine with eight firefighters were dispatched to the scene after receiving the distress call at 8.18pm.
"The team took 20 minutes to extinguish the fire. The car was 100 per cent destroyed but fortunately all the victims managed to escape," he said.
Sundram said cause of the fire is still under investigation.
