KUALA LUMPUR: A 55 year-old policeman was arrested for armed robbery and attempted murder at a cyber café in Jalan Radin Anum, Sri Petaling today.
The Lance Corporal is alleged to have held up the cyber café’s owner with a pistol and robbing him of RM2,000 at 7am this morning.
Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Sharul Othman Mansor said the suspect had held the premises’ owner at gunpoint and fled when he received the money.
“However, the 31-year-old victim gave chase to the suspect until they reached a nearby restaurant.
“It was there that the suspect fired a shot at the victim before getting away,” he said.
Sharul added that the victim suffered a flesh wound from the bullet grazing his chest.
Shortly thereafter, police were able to trace the Lance Corporal, who was just 350 metres away from the cyber café and arrested him.
Authorities seized RM2,000 in cash and a Sig Sauer gun from his person.
Checks revealed the suspect is attached with the Commercial Crime Department at the Shah Alam district police station.
