Parti Cinta Sabah raring to fight for Sabahans' rights

KOTA KINABALU: Newly-launched state-based opposition party Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) has said it looks forward to fighting for the rights of the people of Sabah.

Its president, Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing, said the PCS will focus on working together with other state-based opposition parties, including the new party to be helmed by former Umno vice president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

He said under the alliance of state-based opposition parties (to be known as Gabungan Sabah) the opposition will become more credible and united in the eyes of the people.

The year-old party, with 26 divisions in the state, has outlined nine main action plans in its campaign for Sabahans’ rights, including citizenship, land ordinances, agriculture, Goods and Services tax, civil services, local authorities, education, health and welfare.

Wilfred spoke at the party’s launch ceremony, which was a modest affair held at a restaurant here.

In attendance were key opposition party members such as state former opposition chief Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, Sabah Progressive party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee and former Umno member Datuk Jaujan Sambakong.

Several assemblymen from Sarawak were also present to render their support.
