MACC chief vows continued combat against corruption, abuse of power

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad issued an open letter to all Malaysians today, assuring them that the agency’s all-out war against corruption and abuse of power will continue.

The letter was read out by Dzulkifli at a gathering at the MACC headquarters here, during which he urged Malaysians from all walks of life to support the agency in its mission.

The chief commissioner also issued a stern warning to lawbreakers.

"For those who are still intoxicated by bribery, please listen to this warning: Stop the corruption and power abuse and surrender yourself!" he said at the function, which was held in conjunction with his 100th day in office.

Dzulkifli addressed his letter to a wide range of groups, including parents, teachers, the youth, government servants, enforcement officers, politicians, community leaders, judges, and MACC staff.

He said they should never allow corruption and abuse of power to be part of their lifestyle, and urged them to help inculcate positive and religious values among the people.

Dzulkifli replaced his predecessor, Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, on Aug 1.
