KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old girl, who was reported missing after disappearing from home in Bandar Baru Bangi on Tuesday, has been found.
Aliaa Syafiqah Nazar was reunited with her family this evening.
This was confirmed by her aunt, Juliani Nazar, who thanked netizens for their prayers and wishes for the family during her disappearance.
“Alhamdulillah, Aliaa has returned and is now safe with her family. Thank you to everyone who had lent their help and gave us hope throughout this ordeal,” she wrote on Facebook.
However, the circumstances behind her disappearance and eventual reunion with her family, remain unknown.
On Tuesday, NST had reported that the girl went missing after being last seen at her school in Sungai Tangkas.
Her family only realised that she had disappeared after checking her room that morning. Her sister went to look for her at school, and a subsequent review of the school’s CCTV footage confirmed her suspicion.
The footage showed Aliaa entering the school at 5.20am, and then leaving it minutes later, dressed in different clothes.
A bag, believed to be Aliaa's, was found at the school. The family had believed that Aliaa had gone to search for her mother. She however failed to turn up at her mother's residence.
A missing person’s report was subsequently lodged.
