RAWANG: The search and rescue operation at Sungai SKC, Bukit Beruntung has been officially called off following the discovery of the last victim, Muhammad Aiman Kamarul Ariffin, 12, near a water pump station about 13km from the scene.
District police chief Supt R. Supramaniam said Aiman's body was found by members of the public who were fishing near the water pump station at about 1.15pm today.
Aiman's elder brother identified the body before being sent to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for a post mortem.
"With the last victim's body found, we will officially wrap up the search and rescue operation at 2.30pm." he told a press conference here at the SAR command centre.
Aiman was one of the eight children who were swept away by the current while fishing at a river near Kampung Timah Sungai SKC here on Friday. One of them was found safe and five bodies were recovered on the same day.
Earlier this morning, rescuers found the body of 10-year-old Mohd Ikhwan Mohd Ridhuan, about five kilometres away from the Kampung Timah Sungai SKC bridge.
