SERIAN: A 37-year-old police inspector was charged at the magistrate’s court here today with murdering a woman believed to be his wife about 10 days ago.
Mohamad Sohffian Abu Hassan was charged with killing Siti Nadrah Abdullah, 33, at Kampung Kakai here at 3.15pm on May 21.
The offence comes under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the mandatory death sentence.
Sohffian, who is attached with a police station in the sub-district of Belaga, remained calm when he was produced before magistrate Marutin Pagan.
No plea was recorded from the accused, who was unrepresented.
Marutin later fixed July 6 for mention.
It was reported that Siti Nadrah was found dead with two gunshot wounds in her house at the village.
According to police records, the suspect was a divorcee and did not declare his marriage to the victim.
The victim's 62-year-old mother, who requested anonymity, had insisted that the her daughter had married the suspect.
