Two detained over dead body

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained two men over the discovery of a dead body of a man at Jalan Gombak Lama on Monday.

The dead body was found with his hands tied behind his back, his head and legs covered by gunny sacks.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Ali Ahmad said the duo, aged 26 and 51, were arrested few hours after the body was found at the hillside.

Ali said the men were remanded until Saturday to facilitate the suspected murder case.

He said the victim has been identified as a 32-year-old Sri Lankan man who holds a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card.

His body was claimed by his Malaysian wife who identified him from the tattoos on his body.

The victim’s body, with his hands tied behind his back, his head and legs covered by gunny sacks, was discovered by a member of the public at Km34 Jalan Gombak Lama around 1.15pm yesterday.

The body was believed to have thrown over a cliff from a height of about 15m. The victim sustained serious injuries to his head and neck believed to have been hit by a hard object.

Police are investigating the case under Section 302 for murder.
