KUALA LUMPUR: The body of murdered Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah has been handed over to her family.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the DNA analysis confirmed the remains were of Nur Farah's.
"I can confirm that the body has been released to the family," he said when contacted on Thursday.
Her body was driven out of the Sungai Buloh Hospital Forensic Department in a Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) hearse at 2.14pm. Several vehicles believed to be transporting her family members were also seen leaving the hospital with a police escort.
The body will be taken to the As-Syakirin Mosque in Kampung Tanjung Selangor, Pekan, Pahang, for funeral prayers before burial at the Kampung Nyiur Manis Muslim Cemetery in Pekan this evening.
Earlier, her elder brother told journalists that the family was confident in the police investigation.
"We leave this process to the police. That is all I can comment at this point.
"I want to thank the media and the community for their prayers for this entire process to go smoothly," he said.
