Young couple detained for selling their twins online for RM15,000

KUALA LUMPUR: A teenage boy and his girlfriend were detained on Monday night for allegedly selling their twins online.

City police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said the duo were held at different locations.

“The 20-year-old woman was detained at her house in Setapak around 8pm while her boyfriend who was two years younger was nabbed an hour later at his house in Ampang.

“The suspects were believed to have advertised their four-months-old twins for RM15,000 on a website on Friday,” he said when contacted today.

Mazlan said the duo were however released on police bail.

“The babies have been handed over to the Social Welfare Department,” he said, adding the case was being investigated under Section 48 of the Child Act 2001.

Last Friday, an advertisement attached with a photo of a pair of twins with the title “Twins to let go” was uploaded on a popular online website.

The advertisement went viral on other social media platforms and Whatsapp.

It was learnt that the advertisement has been removed.
