KUALA LUMPUR: A young cashier was beaten up by an enraged customer who had lost his cool while waiting in line during peak meal time in Klang recently.
It is not unusual to expect a longer wait for a table, or for food to be served at popular restaurants during peak meal times – and most eateries saw an influx of customers over the weekend due to the Chinese New Year celebration.
However, one man who wanted to dine at a restaurant in a shopping mall ran out of patience and brutally attacked an employee.
The incident occurred at BBQ Plaza at Aeon shopping mall in Bukit Tinggi, Klang on Sunday, Feb 18.
It is believed that the customer, who was upset due to the long queue, had to wait for 30 minutes outside the restaurant for a table.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident – which has gone viral on social media – shows the man, wearing a dark t-shirt and shorts, walking towards the cashier's counter and getting agitated. Within three seconds, he lands a punch on the cashier's face before hurling verbal abuse at him.
The stunned cashier does not retaliate.
Unhappy with just one punch, the attacker then goes behind the counter to continue throwing a fury of punches, before the young cashier tries to fight back. However, the cashier is overpowered by the angry man, who proceeds to hit him four more times before they are separated by customers and staff.
Towards the end of the video, the cashier resumes his job without a fuss, while the attacker leaves the restaurant.
