KUALA LUMPUR: Seven suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a cashier, who was stabbed at a restaurant in a shopping centre in Cheras yesterday, have been remanded for seven days.
Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan said the suspects, comprising five men and two women aged between 19 and 65, were arrested yesterday to assist with the investigation.
"All the suspects have been remanded for seven days starting today until Dec 6.
"Further investigations are ongoing, including identifying the motive for the murder," he said in a statement.
It was reported that the victim, who is a 49-year-old Chinese national, was believed to have been stabbed multiple times during the incident that took place between 3pm and 4pm yesterday.
Aidil added that the initial examination showed the victim had suffered between four and five stab wounds. She was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital by ambulance.
