KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos' lawyer Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin is waiting for more details from the police on the arrest of his client in Indonesia today.
When contacted by Bernama, Mohd Imran said if necessary, he would go to Indonesia to handle Jamal's extradition process.
"As of tonight, we don't have full details on his arrest, however we are prepared to go to Indonesia to ensure the process to bring Jamal home proceeds smoothly," he said.
Mohd Imran expressed hope that no action would be taken against the Sungai Besar Umno division chief in Indonesia.
Earlier today, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was informed at 6.15pm that Jamal had been picked up by Indonesian police.
Muhyiddin said the Malaysian police had been notified to coordinate the process of bringing Jamal back.
Jamal, 48, went missing after he was charged at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital on May 25.
His disappearance was noticed by the Shah Alam Court assistant registrar who was handling his bail process at about 5.30pm.
Jamal was charged with public nuisance after he smashed crates of beer with a sledgehammer at the entrance of Pos 1 of the Shah Alam SUK building last year.
He is also being investigated for several other cases including one under Section 34 of the Firearms Act 1960.-- BERNAMA
