KUALA LUMPUR: A female police officer and two policemen were charged at the Magistrate’s Court with giving aid to notorious Gang 36 members.
Inspector S. Kushalini, Constable M. Uthayakumar, both 32, and Sergeant A. Rajaratnam, 42, claimed trial before magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som today.
The trio were charged under the Societies Act 1966.
They allegedly committed the offence at Beats Club, Jalan 22a/70a in Desa Sri Hartamas here, between Jan 1, 2015 and May 2, 2017.
The charge under Section 43 of the Act carries an imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or a fine not exceeding RM5,000, or both, if convicted.
The court allowed RM3,000 bail in one surety for each accused and fixed Oct 29 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Izhanudin prosecuted while Kushalini, Uthayakumar and Rajaratnam were represented by counsel Rajpal Singh, Nicholas Netto and Sreekant Pillai respectively.
