Petrol station attendant roughed up, video goes viral [NSTTV]

SUNGKAI: An attendant at a petrol station here was roughed up by a group of men and the incident was caught on video which has now gone viral on social media.

The police report lodged by the 24-year-old victim who was injured in the 12.45pm incident on Oct also went viral.

Tapah police chief Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail confirmed receiving the report.

In the 42 seconds video, the victim was dragged out of the premise by a group of men, some wearing helmet, before being slapped and kicked to the ground, as well as having objects thrown at him.

The video also showed one of the men dragging the victim back inside, with the group following closely behind.

According to the police report, the victim, who lives in Kampung Changkat Sulaiman, claimed that one of the men wanted to fill petrol but did not inform that he wanted RON97 so he keyed in RON95 instead.

Based on the report, the man became enraged even though the attendant had apologised. The victim was then dragged out and one of the men hit him and threw canned drink at him. The victim, who suffered bodily injuries, then lodged a police report.

A Facebook user Aboy Anis, who believed to be the one who posted the video and asked his circle of friends to viral it, wrote that his friend (the attendant) was beaten up at work.

He also wrote that the incident occurred just because the attendant gave wrong petrol by mistake.

Aboy went on to say how the victim was working there to support his younger siblings but now traumatised by the incident.

Meanwhile, Wan Azharuddin said following the incident, the police had recorded two statements on Oct 8.

“The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing injuries.

“We’re in the midst of completing the investigation paper then we’ll refer it to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,” he said.
