KAJANG: Police arrested two men and seized more than five kilogrammes of drugs worth RM285,000 at a house in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, here on Saturday.
Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said with the arrest, police believed they have crippled a drug distribution syndicate operating in the Klang Valley.
He said police seized 1,804 packets of heroin weighing about 5,160g and 175g of methamphetamine from the premise in the 10.30am raid.
"The two suspects, age 33 and 30, tried to hide when the raiding team stormed the house but failed.
"Police believe the suspects have been using the premise to pack and seal the drugs, discreetly prior to distribution," he said adding that the raiding team also found digital weighing scale, unused plastic packets and sealers at the premise.
Zaid said police also seized RM43,850 in cash, a car and a gold chain in the raid.
"Checks also showed that both suspects had criminal records for drug related offences in the past. The two have been remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," Zaid added.
He said raid was jointly carried out by a team from the Selangor Narcotics Crime Investigation Department and the district police.
At the same time, he also urged the public to be the eyes and ears of the police.
"We welcome tip off from the public and encourage them to channel any information involving criminal activities to the police".
