Argument over mobile phone use possibly led to son stabbing father to death [NSTTV]

JELEBU: A verbal altercation between a father and son here turned physical and took a tragic turn with the father getting stabbed to death with a knife.

It is learned that an argument broke out between the two after Tan Yin Fah, 59, chided his 35-year-old son for spending too much time on his mobile phone, in the 9.30am incident this morning at Simpang Pertang, here.

Jelebu district police chief Deputy Supt Maslan Udin said it was believed that after getting chided by his father, the two got into a verbal argument.

The victim was said to have struck the suspect on his back with a plastic chair before the suspect stabbed him with a knife.

Tan died at the scene from stab wounds to his front and back.

Maslan said the suspect then ran away but police nabbed him 20 minutes later after neighbours notified cops about the incident.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Meanwhile, a neighbour said the suspect previously worked outside the state but returned to live with his father in March. The neighbour also claimed that the two were always arguing.
