PETALING JAYA: A police corporal who allegedly assaulted a security guard at Taman Sri Manja condominium on Sunday has been arrested.
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the policeman attached to the district headquarters was picked up yesterday after a video of the attack went viral.
He said an officer lodged a report over the video and incident after he received it via a WhatsApp group yesterday (Monday) morning.
"The victim, a 59-year-old security guard, was apparently assaulted by the policeman for not opening the barrier before he reached the condominium entrance.
"The policeman was seen kicking the victim, allegedly on his stomach and hit him on his head. The victim sought treatment at University Malaya Medical Centre for his injuries," he said in a statement last night.
He said the suspect had also threatened to assault the victim with his helmet.
Fakhrudin said police will not compromise with any wrongdoings or abuse by any of its officers or personnel.
"The case is being investigated under Section 506 for threatening and Section 323 for causing hurt," he said.
