KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today 'raided' at least three Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) offices in the federal capital to assist investigations on integrity issues involving several senior officers at the agency.
Several MACC officers were understood to have been present at the agency's offices from 9am today, believed to be to take some relevant documents that can shed some light into the matter.
Apart from the MARA headquarters in Jalan Mara, MACC officers are also said to have visited the Mara investment company and a corporate secretary company as well as a corporate outsourcing services company linked to the agency, here.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki when contacted by Berita Harian (BH), confirmed the presence of the officers at the MARA offices but declined to comment.
BH's attempt to get feedback from MARA, however, has not been successful.
It is expected that the graft agency will call up several individuals, including witnesses to assist in the ongoing probe.
MACC in a statement yesterday stated that it takes seriously allegations of integrity issues involving several senior officers who are being investigated internally by MARA.
The graft busters also explained that they had received a complaint related to the abuse of power issue and had initiated its probe by taking the testimony from several people in MARA.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 23 (1) of the MACC Act 2009 in that it is an offence for any officer of a public body who uses his position or position to obtain bribes.
Yesterday, BH reported that the five MARA officers accused of being involved in the abuse of power had since lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi Police Station.
All of them denied the allegation as reported in a document that had gone viral on the social media platform in the past few days.
