KLANG: An automated teller machine (ATM) in a convenience store in Meru was blasted open by two robbers who made off with an unknown sum of money.
It is learnt that the shop's employee discovered the glass door of the entrance shattered and the destroyed ATM about 8am upon arriving for work.
Klang Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said the incident was believed to have occurred at 4.50am.
He said based on closed-circuit camera television (CCTV) footage, the robbery was believed to have been committed by two individuals who broke in through the front door.
"The two suspects were believed to have blasted open the ATM before making a run with the money. The amount is still being investigated," he said when contacted today.
He said police have launched a manhunt for the robbers and the case was being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
