PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has been urged to investigate the alleged "lavish" spending by Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional during the 15th General Election last year.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Puchong division chief Mohd Shukor Mustaffa made the allegations in a report with the commission today.
He also urged MACC to investigate the alleged lavish lifestyle of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his family members and who was "sponsoring" them, considering that Anwar was not taking his prime minister's salary.
Shukor claimed it was plain to see that PH and BN had spent large amounts of money during GE15, going by the various media publications and social media postings of the number of flags and posters deployed by the two coalitions.
He also claimed that Anwar had used a luxury helicopter to travel during the campaign period.
"Anwar said he would not take his salary as prime minister but his family lives a lavish lifestyle. Even his daughter Nurul Izzah is living a comfortable life despite not earning a salary.
"What is their financial source that they can afford to live in luxury without drawing salaries?"
Shukor was speaking to reporters after lodging the report at MACC headquarters, here, today.
He said he hoped a comprehensive investigation into PH and BN as well as Anwar and his family would be conducted by MACC.
This, he added, was especially since MACC was supposed to be an independent body.
