One dead in shootout with police at Taman Puchong Prima [Watch]

SUBANG JAYA: Police shot dead a suspected criminal after the man opened fire at the cops in Taman Puchong Prima this afternoon.

It is learnt that the incident took place at 3.50pm when police came upon a Toyota Camry driven by the suspect.

It is understood that police repeatedly ordered the man to stop the car but he refused.

The suspect instead brandished a gun and began opening fire at the policemen.

A shootout then ensued, which ended with the man dead inside the car.

Police have so far remained mum on the full details of the case.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, when met at the scene, only confirmed that an individual was killed in the incident.

"The remains will be sent to Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem examination," he said.

He said a full statement would be released by Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

At press time, a team of policemen from the forensic unit were still combing the crime scene for evidence.

A 39-second video clip of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing a number of men yelling at people to remain in their homes.

The men were believed to be policemen in plainclothes.

As they were yelling, a loud bang was heard, believed to be a gunshot.

The video was recorded by a resident of a nearby apartment from a balcony overlooking the area.

Police have also closed off a section of the road leading into the neighbourhood.
